Playing Had a great Evening

[Amaranth]

Went to the semi-pro night last night, which happens at the pub I play at on alternate Thursdays (our Thursdays are the amater have a go alternate). I went as I wanted to see what the Saxophones did when people who knew what they were doing played them🙂
There were loads of musicians there from people playing Tom Toms to a Chap with a Trombone, lots of Guitars but just the one Alto this week. The music is predominantly loud, fast, blues and it was clearly being produced by chaps who knew what they were doing.
Lurking outside (sinning) the conversations were really interesting and I could have listened all night to tales of gigs and tours. Anyway a couple of people who I vaguely know from our Thursday were teasing me about my boots needing to be out front (they ARE lovely ;} ) and asked where my Sax was and why wasn't I playing tonight? One thing led to another and in the next half hour I was up playing a 12 Bar blues number (which they kindly keyed in Bb) on my Tenor with the big boys!
I was a very chuffed lady I can tell you and people were very generous with their comments and applause.
I just played the one number and then made a run for it but I had a great time and I'm still happy now - what a great feeling!

I just saw myself playing at my first gig from a month ago. Mmmm... my sound was all muffled and not as smooth as i thought i played normally. Then found out i had left my cleaning cloth in the bell!! Doh!! :crying:

Thanks very much for the replies - All those bloomin scales really do pay off in the end I suppose.
It's been a good week, my younger daughter and OH were competing in the European Kickboxing Championships on Sunday and she won a European title to go with her World team title from Greece. My older daughter is now on Maternity leave in advance of impending birth of my first grand daughter on 1st August and now the sun is shining!

Tempted to take the afternoon off and spend it in the Sun.

Well done! I remember the first and only time I've sat in with a pro jazz band.
It was completely unplanned and spur of the moment and I didn't know half the music, so after I ran home to grab my sax they gave me the key signature and a chorus on each song in their second set to do my stuff and have fun as well as coming up with some counter-melodies to play in the head sections.

It was a fantastic experience, I played some crap, some stuff I though was alright a few more bum notes and then one song I knew I'd nailed it and nothing has felt better since.
