Hi All, got a back up tenor I purchased just this week (so not long ago!) I was risking it by buying and something better has come along. I can't ask the guy for a return, it's not fair as I purchased it knowingly following a good read of the description and I have simply changed my mind
It's basically a Weltklang tenor branded 'Mayfair' and made in Germany. It looks lovely and it is well built, just like my silver Weltklang (my reason for buying one of the same kind!) However, in my desperation for a back up sax I took a risk I guess. I got it for a great price. It needs a few items sorting, I can tell just on my initial assessment of it. The Bottom end Bb I can see is not quite sitting on the tone hole. The pads are a little dry and some are worn but they could be revived. It plays as it is and the lower end B & Bb are there with some effort but it needs some improvements. I favour these saxes for their build quality and warmth of tone. The G# key has a nice mother of pearl key touch too. It is an older sax but has a lovely vintage look about it and is not too grubby at all just bits of lacquer loss and a slight bare brass appearance to it - would look great all stripped down and rebuilt I should think.
I Would like £140 all in, this will include the postage to you. If I could get this back for the sax then I'm happy but I can't lose money on it. I will make a 5% donation thru here. PM for photos
