My quest for the ideal alto mouthpiece has led me to splash the cash again, but this time it's for the last time, I promise. If I ever say I'm going to buy another mouthpiece, please stop me, I don't need it and should really sell one or two of the old ones in the Yard Sale.
It's one of Ed Pillinger's finest, a 6*M with medium baffle. I tried it for about an hour in the shop against a couple of different Meyers and a Rousseau, and it beat them hands down. Today I played it in the studio for two hours and was even more impressed, it does everything I want - stick a 2.5 reed on it and the low notes come out clean, the high notes pop out really easily and it's possible to get tones from very mellow to a good bluesy wail.
Repeat after me.... no more new mouthpieces.... no more new mouthpieces.... no more new mouthpieces....
