Well I'm now the owner of 2 MBIIs. You might think they'd be fairly similar. Well they're not.

Curious innit?

Soundwise they're more similar than the pic might suggest. So, instead of having a spare that sounds the same, I have a spare that just a bit different. S'alright by me.

You have 2 different brand laser DG's.The top 1 with the berg type baffle is the german PMS MBII laser cut mp.The bottom 1 is the more legit copy by WWBW in the USA.This step MBII baffle laser copy is the 1 based nigh on 100% on a original DG MBII.Still do not know why PMS still make there MBII like this. There handmade MBII has the step baffle so why keep doing the berg bullet type baffle. It looks more like the DG King or super king model than a MBII DG.

Cheers. I'd forgotten about all the shenanigans concerning Mr Guardala and his mouthpieces. Anyway, I like 'em both.

Mr Guardala sold his rights to the german firm PMS hence the do alot of DG named pieces, laser cut copys and hand made versions by a guy there based on the DG's.Dave Guardala has not made any more pieces for many many years with his big jail term.I think he's out now but for sure there will be be no more from him.He conned and upset ALOT of guys. Its a shame as he was amazing at his craft and a legend in tenor mps.He carved the way for custom made pieces on his own.A great craftsman who got greedy and turned out a con man.I owned a big bunch of original DG handmades,a bunch of laser trimmed pieces but am now using the lost wax copy DG pieces by Sakshama in new york. His work is outstanding. All made in bronze.Have the great file marks just like original DG's.I find sakshama mps have atad more core than original 1's.Had a saks MB1 which i should of kept.Got a saks king and MBII guardala now.All 118 tip.

How can you be so sure about that then?

I have a WWBW MB11 & a Sakshama MB11 i find the WWBW a little more controlable but prefer the Sakshama, seems to have so much more going on in the sound.....

well just look up what he done and WHY he got a big jail term.He cant use the guardala name now as he sold that.He conned, stole alot of cash from people.1 was the great player Greg Vail. With such a bad rep now is there any place in the sax world for him now.Would people trust him now??? He was amazing at his craft but he has pushed the boat out to far i think.Only time will tell but i cant see it.

Theres bound to be some kind of cult following for a guy like this, and yes bound to be people willing to take a gamble just to get a real handmade Guardala.

If he started production tomorrow, i'd wager he'd be a rich man by the end of the week......one way or another!

Gotta remember, he's just out of jail so probably potless, now what i wonder can he do to make a decent living quickly? something he's good at, so of course he will be making mouthpieces again, that i guess would be a fore gone conclussion...

Hey if i'm wrong it wont be the 1st time. What will be will be.Can you tell what he would make now as far as mp design that he not done in the past.Since he went to jail theres plenty more top custom mp makers about now with no bad reps which have made some nice new design work.Theres the laser trimmed DG's now plus PMS make handmade versions with his name on it.You have superb guys like Sakshama who makes hand made bronze guardala based mps at a faction of the price.Remember theres plenty dont like the guardala sound.I love it but many dont.He would have to do something new i think. He aint got Brecker or Brandford or Liebmen now to use as users. There would be many people trying to make it hard for him to deal.Only time will tell but i for 1 who has owned ALOT of DG mps ,original, laser and Sakshamas i think sakshamas are the best all round.
