Hi guys,

what would you say is a good Parker tune to start with?
Fairly easy.

Also how do you go about learning tricky or fast passages? Any techniques to learn hard bits?

Thanks guys!

There's no such thing as an easy Charlie Parker song. ;)

Billie's Bounce isn't too hard of you slow it down and there are oodles of backing tracks out there for it.

And if you learn Billie's Bounce, you also will know Now's the Time. Two for one!

Hi Pang

My son has been learning to play Bille's Bounce for the last couple months.
Its classed as an intermediate piece, music grade 6 according to the Trinity exam board here in the UK.
He started off very slowly, listening to various artists versions. Then playing with a metronome at slow tempo.
He did have the help of his teacher.

He can play it with some confidence but no where near full speed with accuracy.
Lots of fun trying!

The book he is using is called In session with Charlie Parker, it has an accompanying CD, helpful notes on how play the tricker passages and other Parker tunes
My son is also slowing tackling Yardbird Suite
