I have duelling banjos transposed for 2 Baris!

out of interest...could you keep your pinkie down? would it affect the F?
(I would go upstairs and try it, but I can't be bothered! - I've just got in from an afternoon of playing and want to veg!)

Adding the low C key to low F may change the timbre of the note slightly, but not the pitch---I think. Now I have to try it.

Yes it does. It's similar to what the trumpet does with a bowler hat or a wah wah mute. Holding C shut while playing F/F# and fluttering D finger is a nice effect. I think all this is covered by Pete in Taming the saxophone.
