Hi All,

I just saw this youtube video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMqiI5EIOAQ

and thought I'd share is altissimo fingers that he uses. These are from his video 'tricks of the trade'

F# front F left hand 3 - right hand side Bb
G LH 1 3 - Rh 1 3
G# ditto plus side C
A 23 - 123
Bb LH 3 only
B Ditto plus palm D
C ditto plus palm Eb
C# ditto plus palm E
D ditto plus palm F
D or just front F

Here are the alto fingerings Steve Neff uses:-

F# front f + 3 - side Bb
Dirty Sanborn F# 1 3 - 1 2 plus Eb (not front F) -
G 1 3 - 1 side Bb and Eb
G# 1 3 - 1 side C and Eb
A 23 - 123
Bb 3 - 12
B ditto plus palm D
C ditto plus palm Eb
C# ditto palm E
D front F only

Eric also talks about doing a growl by letting air out of the side of the mouth, but I have no clue how this works.

Hope you find this useful....

cheers - Rob

I found that amazing interesting and incredibly enjoyable then went on to watch another trio of saxes obviously done at the same time also fabulous I just wish I could get a handle on that sort of playing and improvisation perhaps one of our teacher members could offer a hint on the best route to take, although I feel my playing of learned tunes is pretty reasonable moving into improvising around the tune completely evades me .....John

Thanks for that Chris I will explore the thread, the IOTM thread is one that I have been avoiding or at least not bothered to look at for the simple reason that as you know I am totally pants when it comes to improvisation so I will definitely get my concentrate head on see if I glean the secret from it ......John
