Brass Eric Ewazen: concertino for bass trombone

Last night the ABC played Eric Ewazen's Concertino for Bass Trombone and Trombone Choir, performed by the New Trombone Collective with Brandt Attema as the soloist.

This concertino was composed in 1996.It is in my view a great example of what can be done when a composer concentrates on the intrinsic qualities of an instrument and can "hear" how it sounds. :welldone

Absolutely!

Not unlike having saxophone music which was written by a saxophonist (so you know it's gonna lay well on the horn!).
