I don't even look like me any more. It's quite disturbing to look in the mirror and see your mother looking back. Especially when she needs a shave.

I used to get, and still do, a 'hey Kenny' sometimes [Kenny Rogers] but a jazz fan will sometimes recognize me as looking like Gerry Mulligan during his 'Lonesome Boulevard' record years with his long grey hair and beard - uncanny actually since I also used to play a Conn 12M

A friend of mine used to describe lookalikes as, different mum, same milkman.

In the right light I do a passable Lenin.
1991 or so. They had just started allowing Russians to travel freely.
I had been for a job interview at the BBC Engineering Department at Teddington.
It is on the same tube line as Heathrow airport.
It was winter.
Being a Yorkshireman I was wearing the Civil Defence greatcoat I bought in 1974 and a flat cap and my wire rim National Health glasses. (waste not want not! I still have them both and wear them.)
Russians got on the tube at Heathrow. They were VERY uncomfortable at the sight of me!
I thought it would be a bit cruel to start whistling The Red Flag but I was very tempted to do it! Very.
I didn't get the job so I went to Hong Kong instead.
