Hi,
Anyone know difference in Brilhart ebolin and a Otto link tone edge modern rubber piece on tenor?

Tone wise and playability

They are pretty different. Lets assume you have a well made version of each. While that is a big assumption we will start there.

The ebolin chamber is smaller. It has straight sidewalls. The link has deeply concave sidewalls and a much bigger chamber.

The ebolin will likely be a bit brighter and not as big of a low end. It will have more focus. The link will be very spread and considerably more mellow and fluffy...that is a weird word to use for sound but there it is.

To hear the difference check out Gene Ammons. He played an ebolin. There are plenty of link players to compare but most used a vintage model that is expensive and not as dark.
