My poor contribution

It's a hard key, but I love this blues thread :)

Nice one Francisco, you did a good job in this difficult key.

@mrpeebee keeping up your consistently high standard and finding some good backing tracks to play with. I can hear the influence of your tenor heroes coming through - but did they ever record in this key ?

Thanks Rhys :).

Not sure if Cobb and Jacquet ever recorded or played in this key, but I'm sure they where able to do. Cobb was for five years saxophone section lead (straw boss) in the Lionel Hampton Big Band of the mid 40's and got a good music education. The same for Jacquet, who also had his own Big Band later in his career (I've seen some of those charts and they seem easy, but are often very complex).

Sneaking in a final recording for 2016.

I Be Blue on alto: Slow Blues in B - Rhys Alto.wav - Box

I used one of the JazzBacks slow blues backing tracks and was trying different things on the first couple of choruses (major blues scale and then minor blues scale) before just playing around the scales for each chord on the remaining choruses.

Happy Blue Year

Rhys
