Dearman Alto Saxophone for sale ...

Hey Hey All ...

My elder brother [not a player] who lives in France has asked me to offer his Dearman Alto sax for sale ...

The sax [which I believe is a quite old and likely to be a Conn Stencil] is now in Norfolk, UK ...

He is asking for offers close to the £150 mark ... [which does not include Postage and Packaging].

I have posted a series of photos [Here] giving views of it from most angles ...

There is no case or mouthpeice ...

This sax is in need of thorough cleaning and a re-pad, it has some leaks [the low notes] ...

There are no dings or dents - if someone is keen to do their own re-pad and any minor tweaking, then this may be just what they are looking for ...

Any Offers, Questions you may have or information requests via PM please ...

My brother has asked me to sell this instrument on his behalf. If the sax is sold here at the
cafe, he has authorised me to make a donation of 10% of the selling price to Pete's charity ... :thumb:

PS - I am under instruction that if there are more than one interested party in this sax, it will be sold to the highest bidder ...

Update:

I have been in touch with my brother again regarding his Sax, he has [with some prods in the ribs from me] authorised me to double the charitable donation ...

Therefore if the Sax is sold here then 20% of the sale price will be donated to Pete's chosen charity ... :thumb:

He has also said that I can negotiate a fair price on his behalf if anyone shows an interest ...

This is a very nice Alto ... [See the photo's [Link above]

I don't think this is a Conn stencil. Lacks the merc style C# keyguard. I'd guess Czech/East German.

Just been doing some scratching on the web, seems to be post war Czech manufacture for the guys who made the plastic grafton saxes.

Post war Czech was a nationalised amalgam of (mainly) pre-war Kohlert and Keilwerth. So it's probably got a pre war vintage sound. Should sound really good when it's sorted. Looks to be silver plated.

I'm tempted, very tempted. Someone please buy it and save me some money and aggro at home.

This is a Photobucket [working] link from the original post - The images are available from there for anyone who maybe interested ...

Hope that's OK :old:

I am withdrawing this Sax from the Yard Sale as my Grandson is rather interested in renovating it ... 🙂

He has been taking lessons using my Alto and is making steady progress ... :yess:

Hope that's OK :old:

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
