Tom (TomMapfumo), how would you rate the Bari Esprit II for Alto against the Yamaha 4C, for a beginner?

Thanks, David

Re: hi, im new to the sax

Hi Keith, I'm new here too, and to the sax.

Tom, how would you rate the Bari Esprit II for Alto against the Yamaha 4C, for a beginner?

Thanks, David

I have them both and prefer the Bari by some distance.

Tom, the Jupiter and Yamaha 4C mouthpieces, with Rico 3 (orange), give quite a steady tone to my ear on the Jupiter 567 (don't forget I'm a beginner too). I'm looking for a more raspy jazzy sound. Would the Bari and Rico Jazz Select 2M unfiled be likely to take me in the right direction? I appreciate it's probably more to do with me than the mouthpiece, but any help......

I also have a YAS-275 and old Beaugnier Vito on their way to me, and will test out one of Robbie's Jericho J6's next week alongside. Trying to start out with the right kit is tricky when your playing is fairly crappy, I know!

Update: Vito arrived with Selmer S80 and Morgan "School model" mouthpieces. Guess I should try these first before buying a Bari? Will RJS 2M reeds give me a jazzier sound though?

:)
