Spotted this and messaged the seller to find out more (and to buy it for £50 of course!)...

Although the mouthpiece has a Berg liature it appears to be a Selmer Classic.

Anyone have any idea of the more realistic value of the sax, mouthpiece, and ligature?

The seller is aware he has listed it too cheaply as he's been inundated with messages and is re-thinking the sale price. I offered my (your) help as he doesn't know saxophones.

Anyone?

NB. I have no connection with the seller, just spotted the ad.

I reckon it's a C Melody. The bell comes a long way up the body, and it's not a good fit in the tenor(?) case.
Any other way of telling if it's a C-Mel?
If it is, I guess it's just about worthless.
As a tenor, I thought £50-100 as it'll cost £400-600 to overhaul and then you'd have a sax worth... £200-300?
As a C-Mel, same overhaul costs, but only a serious Sioma collector is going to want it, and how many of them have you bumped into?

I've seen those mouthpieces go for around £200 in perfect condition. It's silver plated brass, so may or may not clean up nicely.
If the horn is a Mel C I'm guessing a home repairer, wanting one to play, would be interested.

A C-Melody stands 24 - 26"tall (sans neck) vs 28+" for a tenor. Harder to tell if it's LP though, but with a serious m/p I'd assume it's seen some proper use, which it might not have done if HP, so on balance probably(?) is.

Don't we know one of those?
