Saxophones David's Interesting Finds - Oooh! A Selmer MkVII Baritone for sale!

To point a) ....this is my position/opinion as well. I am not certain that claiming a VII bari is a relabeled VI because it doesn't have VII pinky table or spats...is really an argument standing on terra firma. If these were somewhat experimental, proptotypical horns...it's quite possible Selmer decided NOT to start machining VII-esque keys at a baritone scale...until they had firmly decided to market the VII bighorn.

Point b), as people are by now tired of hearing me say...is where the Proof lies. Gotta measure up the bodies of one vs. the other. The answer will be right there.
Just for info... Douglas Pipher, who interrogated Selmer's archives, advises me as follows...

"Hi David,

Selmer 319063 is a French-market Mark VII Baritone which shipped from Selmer Paris in Sep 1981.
It was sold to a store in Lyon called Bellecour Musiques.
I have no records of this instrument being stolen.

So, a genuine MkVII per Selmer's records although it is pretty much identical to a MkVI in build.

PS. Jon, just noticed your post. Not played it a lot as I've been 'busy' with my project. But seems to play nicely.
