Nice one - thanks for that Jules. Great stuff from both the main participants.

I find Dr John quite variable, from absolutley great to a bit forgettable. My favourite Dr John CD is from about the same period as this TV recording and is called "Duke Elegant". It has his unusual take on Duke Ellington songs - highly recommended.

I saw Dr. John a few years ago with the great Ronnie Cuber - not playing the bari that he is usually associated with, but on tenor. He's getting on a bit (Dr. J, that is) but still knocked out an imperiously great, memorable set.

Saw him at Glastonbury this year with Chris Barber on Trombone(!).. the Doc's still definately got it- him and the Jerry Dammers orchestra (featuring Arthur Brown) were definately the highlights of the weekend
