three simple words to describe sounds in musical instruments particularly with woodwind and brass ! but who can truly define these three words ?
dark.....smokey.....bright

dark.....smokey.....bright

to me Dark= Bass heavy, and by extension of that bright is treble heavy, smokey is (again, to me), hm dark but with a lot of potential for breath noise to come through (in a good way)......
Not sure how anyone else views these terms...

To me dark implies mystery or brooding.

But it can also mean warm or mellow.

That sound's like my Mauriat 66R UL Tenor but add power house also.😀
