Paul Harvey, Contest Solo no 5 on Bari Sax.

I thought I would run through it and recorded what I played.
It's not perfect - there are definitely some intonation issues, but it is a surprisingly straightforward piece for a Diploma piece. I suspect there is more that just playing this one - I suspect the dynamics, phrasing and definitely intonation will be far more complicated than the fingering.

But I've really fallen for this piece, so will plan to put it in my Diploma repertoire.

It's coming along nicely. Just a thought.

The baritone has a tendency to lead you astray intonation wise up at the top. We feel like we need to push and reach for the high notes. It's counter intuitive, but we need to to pull down the high notes to stop them sounding sharp.

It took me ages to realise my bari isn't out of tune at the top. I am. I give special attention to the palm notes to pull the in.

Have a look with a tuner but don't get too distracted by it.
