For sale Conn 14M "Shooting Stars" Alto Sax , Recently overhauled by Connollys (Receipt Provided) .. serial number has no prefix letter so was made around 1959 in the Elkhart Factory in the USA so the most desirable version ..
This is a real player , it plays stunningly well from end to end with a fast light action, good intonation and sounds closer to the famous 6M ladyface than many would want to admit, this is a great budget alternative and ideal for someone wanting the famous Conn sound without the pricetag of a 6M or the issues and poor quality of a "Mexiconn" , also a great and easy playing way to get a Vintage American horn, don`t be put off by the Shooting stars logo, 50s and no prefix early 60s ones are true Conns in every sense of the word...
Cosmetically it`s average for its age with usual marks & scratches and repair to the wire lower key guards , there`s probably more laquer on this than most .. See Photos on the Dropbox link below 🙂
Comes with nearly new high quality Bari mouthpiece, metal ligature and American hard case (maybe original but likely 1970s vintage) .. I`m not 100% sure what to ask but I`m putting it up here at £350
I really like this horn and will probably regret selling it later on but after abandoning thoughts of getting a MkVII as second tenor (Due to Financial reasons) I`m sticking with the one Tenor as Tenor is my actual gigging horn - Alto is the personal hobby side of things and I`d really like a Yam 61 (That scruffy 21 has really got into my blood, far more than the new 62 ever did) , I`d also like to try something different .
Photos here - apologies for the crudity of them, they were quickly snapped with my ageing backup camera in JPG .
