classical scores for alto sax

I want to get hold of sheet music for classical music scored for alto sax, particularly early stuff like Purcell, Bach etc - the result of listening to too much Branford Marsalis! Looking online has been a frustrating waste of time because everything is scored for different instruments etc. Does anyone know a good source of cheap/free scores for classical alto sax (especially Purcell's O Solitude - check out Marsalis' record Scenes In The City...)

My wife gets a lot from musicscores.com, not free, but a low annual subscription. And they're very careful about staying within the copyright laws. Not a lot of sax stuff, though. So you may need to do the transposing yourself.

www.musicroom.com are a useful online resource - worth investigating. I had a brief look and located 7 books by Bach, and 6 by Handel for Alto Sax. Just type in the name of a composer and see what they have (no Purcell however!).

Kind regards
