Case zipper has dropped off...

On my Hanson tenor case, one of the zipper pullers has completely broken and fallen out of the zip, so I just have one which has to run right the way around the case rather than two which meet in the middle of the front.

The zip itself is fine. Is there a way of introducing another puller into the zip? There are no open ends, as with a coat zipper, so it would need to be either a puller designed to fix this situation or to find a way of forcing a new one in. To clarify, it's not the pull tag that's broken off the puller, it's the whole puller, the thing that opens and closes the zip, that's bust.

Thanks for any help!

Zips drive me mad. Nearly every type of jeans have cheap zips that break after a while. We used to wear jeans for years and years until the fabric was torn, patched up and torn again - and yet the zips kept on working.
The zips today have the puller on the attached spring, so they are prone to wear and eventually break.
On instrument cases the metal is some kind of aluminum or pot metal that has little structural strength. The puller can snap off fairly easily, and you need a bit of force to get the zipper round corners.
often the way the puller attaches to the zipper is through one open end of the loop it fits into. These open up over time so the puller will fall off. Sometimes these can be squeezed down but it they have come open once the chances are it'll work free again. I solder up the free end to prevent this happening.
I get a lot of school instruments to work on and these days the majority of new instruments come in zip up fabric cases. A good number of them fail. I wish more people would complain about duff zips and maybe they'd spend a quid or two extra making them better.
Useful links above. Could be handy.

Used to put a bit of leather boot lace through the hole in the broken zipper on my old leathers, was better than the original because you could get a grip on it with your gloves on, no good in this case of course

re above, just been playing around with 'my old man said follow the van'....'.2 luvly black eyes' ...' up in the gallery'...etc, really must start a small music hall orchestra one of these days ( would give the C melody an outing at least )

Used to drink in the Thomas a Becket (boxing pub) when I went out with a bird called Eileen who I met on the set of doing Come on Eileen by Dexy's!!! How about that then! Also the Borough Market was a flea pit!

Remember the Thos A Becket very well, I lived at Elephant & Castle for much of the 80s, used to get some good junk from the flea market part of East St too, and of course Brick Lane over the river was a regular Sunday exploration, usually managed to come back with a stuffed antelope head or some such !
unfortunately I must go play with the traffic and attempt the Blackwall Tunnel in a mo, deep joy......
