So I think the subject line pretty much sums it up, I’m looking for a case for a 1922 Buescher TT curved soprano with a fixed neck. I currently have it in a Supersac soft gig bag which came with it at purchase. It’s a decent gig bag and more or less fits it but isn’t designed for a fixed neck one.

I’ve contacted a few places and Thomann claim that the Gard MSK102 fits fixed neck vintage sopranos (even though the Gard description says they don’t) however I’m not sure it would offer any better protection than what I’ve got. Unfortunately it also seems that the Ortola 128 isn’t suitable for vintage fixed neck curved sopranos.

Allied Supply apparently have one which works for TT saxes, however the price was eye watering and the vendor said that the description didn’t say whether it would fit fixed neck saxes and refunds wouldn’t be possible so that would be a huge gamble.

I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions? It’s a shame protec don’t have anything, I’d buy it in a heartbeat!

Thanks all!

It's a perfect DIY job if you like to work with your hands and find solutions for you curved Buescher soprano.

Buy a good case in sturdy material. I like alu cases but also plastic cases are also good. Make sure that the case is 10-15 cm (all around) bigger than the sax.

Buy cellular plastic, glue and somethinng to form the cellular plastic with. The are electric tools for this but small knives, spoons (heated) ..... is also working. When you are ready the cellular plastic you should cover the cellular plastic with 2 layers of cloth (first one is rather firm) and the second layer soft.

I have just done cases for curved and straight sopranos. A sturdy case for the big saxes is really expensive. On the other side a vintage sax need a case with good protection.

that's wnderful, tom. i did make alterations to a bauhaus/walstein case but it's not very good. by 'cellular plastic' do you mean polystyrene foam?
The thick one that we use when we built house foundation. 2,4 x 1,2 x 0,1 m planch is perfect.

The cases can be a problem. The best material is no longer available for DIY. Search for Holmbergs Cases they have very good cases.
