You can now purchase a ticket for the Cardiff meet which will be held on Sunday 22nd November.

So far we have had confirmation from Griff, Myalls, Ed Pillinger and Dick Hamer that they will attend. Griff will be talking to you about sax maintenance and I am sure will answer any questions you may have. He has also very kindly agreed to give some saxophones a free health check but as he will be limited in time, preference for this will be given to those who book first :)

Myalls will be setting up a shop to satisfy your GAS urges :sax:

Aldevis and Dick Hamer will be leading either improvisation or ensemble playing, the details of this aspect of the day have not yet been finalised but as the majority of people didn't have a preference I am hoping you will bear with us on this.

Dick may also bring some mouthpieces for you to try and as a respected tech will also be available for questions.

Please remember these meets are primarily a social event giving you the opportunity to meet fellow members and share your passion for the wonderful instrument we all love. If circumstances out of our or any presenter's control mean they cannot attend we cannot guarantee a replacement.

Ticket price is £35 and will include a buffet lunch and refreshments during the day. The programme and times are yet to be finalised but we will probably start between 9.00 & 10.00 and have to be out by 6.00pm

Parking for those that drive will be available at Atradius.

A big thank you to QWales for helping us to arrange this event and Atradius for their sponsorship of the meet.

Further details are posted here but you cannot respond to this thread, that way I can keep this thread clear for updates and notifications. So please keep checking this thread.

Please ask any questions or post comments here.

Looking forward to meeting some new faces and old :)

Aldevis and I have been working on the programme for Cardiff, provisionally it looks like this:

9.00 -10.00, Griff, and Dick will be around and possibly Myalls and Ed too. Members welcome to arrive during this period and Griff will carry out sax health checks. Members can socialise, play on their own, look at Myalls, Ed's and Dick's stuff for sale.

10.00 - 11.00 Impro or ensemble playing with Dick Hamer - content to be decided

11.00 - 12.00 Griff sax maint talk and takes questions

12.00-1.30 Lunch and Aldevis arrives. Members free to look at shop, sax health checks talk to techs

1.30-2.30 Aldevis and Ed lead a Q & A session re mouthpieces, perhaps explain how the differences alter sound and tuning looking at different baffles and any other questions.

2.45 - 5.30 Workshop - we can slot breaks as we see fit on the day to give you the opportunity to peruse the shop, chat, more sax health checks.................

Provisional ideas for the musical content are:

How to approach Four Brothers or Four Broths" (IOTM July 2015):
- phrasing
- balancing a four part harmony
- improvising on nasty chords

As with the other meets I am sure timings will be moveable, it is after all your meet and we want you to get the most out of a fabulous opportunity to meet and play with some amazing guests :)

Parts are:
sax 1 alto or soprano
sax 2 alto or tenor
sax 3 alto or tenor
sax 4 alto or tenor or baritone

Any combination should work.

For those travelling by car there are parking spaces at Atradius, you drive around the building and down the ramp, normal size vehicles can park under the building, so first exit on the right as you travel down the ramp, larger vehicles can park outside on the bottom of the ramp.

If you are using a taxi from the station and the driver is unsure of the building ask them to take you to the Norwegian Church Art Centre in Cardiff Bay. You can then walk back to Atradius. (When I visited in April I did this and found it no trouble) Atradius is a large building with steps leading up to it.

Unfortunately, due to illness Ed Pillinger will not be joining us in Cardiff. I am sure you will all join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.
