can you recognize this reggae/ska tune? (used in some adverts).

This is a very catchy tune which I though was from Prince Buster (the 60's ska hero) but I can't find any reference nor title - it was the soundtrack of an advertising campaign (probably insurance policy or similar).

I use "_" when intervals go down and " " (empty space) when intervals go up:
a series of dots indicates same sustain notes (very approx).

C_GGGG.....G# A_EEEE.....F G_CCC...D E F G.....

hope this helps...if not I'll record a sound clip.

With respect, cant see that shifting much product. Can you chuck in a little audio, the visual is eluding me.

Yep...that would help a lot - I record using my trusted Minidisc but the Atrac format is a pain in the axx and I can't find the way to code this files into some more manageable MP3 or Ogg or else...
I've just found out I can record some decent quality audio using my smartphone (better than the ARM format anyway) and I'd give it a go soon - still, I need also to figure out where to upload audio files (any suggestion for a suitable server is appreciated - I'm inclined to sign for SoundCloud...).

I'm quite sure most of you will recognize the tune - I've played by memory while busking (for what I remember) - it's very upbeat and people loved it and asked if I knew the title..."err, no sorry I don't know the title but I saw that advert on telly" (red face).
just in case, the "_" symbols I've used above precedes the note which goes down - so the first notes are as follow: from C the second note is a 4th down to G then the other G repeated and so on...

I recognise it from what you've written and can hear it in my head! but have absolutely no idea what it is or what advert it's from! If I remember I'll let you know :thumb:

Is it Bob Marley 'Three little birds' ? "don't worry bout a thing cos every little thing gonna be alright" sounds like a insurance advert :)

Oh no...we are back to square one then - no matter how descriptive I can be - even a sound clip we'll be pointless as we'll be in the situation where people recognize the tune (cos' they heard it before - maybe in that advert) but still they wouldn't know the title/artist etc. Forget SoundHound and similar stuff too...they also can't id the tune (I didn't managed anyhow).
The irony is that by chance I managed to find a clip on uTube a while ago (while searching material on Prince Buster, Skatalites and similar) - so it's not just an anonymous tune used exclusively on a single advert.
The brass section sounded kind of Ska/Reggae style and I'm quite sure the sax is there in the spotlight (maybe a tenor).

Like U2 stuff here: "where the streets have no name..."

No Trimmy, definitely not that tune (good try).

if you can remember which advert it was uesd on, this website might help - http://www.tvadmusic.co.uk/about/ or this one - http://www.splendad.com/

I don't have a telly, but I remember hearing a version of Burning Spears's Slavery Days used for a mortgage advert a few years ago and Liquidator by the Harry J Allstars crops up occasionally, but that's an organ instrumental..
there's a DFS advert with Train To Skaville by the Ethiopians on it - http://youtu.be/JKicnvf0I6U
post a sound clip and I'll figure it out

Here's my clip (at last!) - sort of managed to convert from Atrac to Wav to MP3...

Pardon the pita filefactory system (catcha and waiting before download) - still, a small file but I'd rather like to use a link where music can be accessed instantly...(I don't think Soundcloud offers that).

Now, we just have to hope there are some keen Ska/Reggae experts out there...:)

LMAO ! I got to this via Matt Monro , i actually recognised the tune from the text description

Alleluia!! thanks a lot...
Baba Brooks - I should had remembered that name (Baba's my cat's name). The piece is still very catchy and popular - it should be revamped (just like Buster's One Step Beyond?).
