Hi,

Can anyone suggest a sax tutor in the Leeds area (W. Yorks)?

I'm an adult beginner on alto sax but played clarinet to grade 5 many moons ago. I seem fine on the fingerings (also play recorder which is a big help for sax fingerings) and my music reading and theory are ok, its more embouchure and technique I need guidance on. I would prefer a tutor specialising in the jazzier side of things as the classical route is not me, I'm not looking to take exams though its something I'm not ruling out completely.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Will get the hang of quoting eventually, I just hope I'm better at picking up the sax than using this forum!

some saxophone teachers in Leeds

I found my teacher like this. Read the resumes, contacted one I liked the sound of, got lucky first time. You might need to try one or two before you find one that you 'click' with, but at least you get some idea of their background, music styles etc. and at least in Leeds there is plenty of choice (compared to the wilds of Cumbria!)

Thanks everyone for your help, I am having a trial lesson tomorrow with a tutor I think is right for me. I'm looking forward to it but a little bit nervous to find out how rubbish I really am.
Richard Ormrod looks great but is a bit out of my price bracket for now, I hope I'm going to be lucky first time but have a list of reserves to try too.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
