CafeSaxophone Blues thread..

Chris

Well Known
Café Supporter
It's about time the Cafe had its own Blues thread:sax:. So here it is.
This is all about you and the Blues:w00t: No complex jazz changes to challenge
the grey matter:confused:, no blistering tempo to change the arthritis :old:. This is open
to ALL members to have a play with. There's NO melody to learn just make up
your own:mrcool

The backing can be downloaded from here "HoneyRose"

Don't worry the title is just a working title, you can title it what you like. The track has
x5 choruses with a two bar intro, the Key is Bb minor, the tempo is about 80ish.

The chords are.

ll Bbm l F7+ l

ll: Bbm l % l % l Bb7+ l
Ebm l % l Bbm l % l
Gb7 l F7 l Bbm l F7 :ll

Bbm l % ll

Feel free to post as many versions as you like, each time you find another way round
the track press record and share it on here. I know Pete and Aldevis will be joining in on
this one, so it really will be a Cafe Blues. Looking forward to hearing some great tracks.

Have fun.

You're courting a fate worse than death by doing this... :w00t:

I think 3 hours compulsory KennyG at full volume would be about right. :thumb:

Kev, that is a very tough and severe punishment...I'm a pretty tolerant person, and I own several Kenny G LPs, tapes, CDs and even a DVD, but even I couldn't handle 3 hours of Kenny G (sorry Kenny)...

What about 1 hour of Nelson Rangell and 2 hours of Danny Gatton...

What if I refer to my telecaster as "The Saxocaster" - I was going to call it a different name but "The Telephone" was already taken...🙂

At last! It's good that we have a Blues(Sax) thread. I'm looking forward to hear blues recordings from the CS members. Maybe I'll post some clips myself? I can't record direct into my computer. I use a small PA with my sax mixed in and then I record it on a Zoom1.

I agree it's a great idea but I would prefer a short melody or something as a 'jumping off point' into the improv. All the old blues have a 'head' to start off with.
Play any basic minor blues head then.

Black Magic Woman sounds ok.

Just make up something simple Alan, or find a minor blues you like and 'Borrow' that. The idea of a Cafe Blues was lossely based on SOTW's. But over here you get a full track of your own not just 12 bars. Like I said it should be a fun thread.

Chris..

Nick, I'll forgive you posting two versions seeing how good they were to listen to. Nice one. Looking forward to some more over the coming weeks.
Pete, I presume that's the new Selmer you're playing?? You're making it sound good..
