deadlink Buzzing Bari

My Bari sax went for a service two weeks ago.

I've just noticed that it is buzzing whenever I press any of the left hand pinkie keys 🙁

My husband says he can't hear it, but to me it's like someone unwrapping sweets in the cinema! (ie very loud and annoying)

I have recorded it, but I don't know how clear it is: DeadAudiolink Removed

Since I often keep the G# key down when playing lower notes (if the key sig has a G#) this is really annoying me.
Also it buzzes when playing low C#, B and Bb.

I'm going to ring the tech, but any thoughts?

Have a look for loose screws or missing bits of cork. I can't hear much on the recording. If it's metal vibrating on metal then you'll probably feel it through your teeth more than hear it.

Can't hear anything wrong but as Colin says, it's probably something you feel rather than hear. I have a couple of notes on my bari that make some key or rod vibrate. I feel it (probably through my hands and my mouth/teeth) but it can't be heard by anyone else. I got used to it, although in your case, if it's the whole pinkie cluster, I reckon it must be rather annoying.
I expect it would be a rather difficult task for a repairman to detect what is actually vibrating, but tightening everything and maybe also putting some bits of teflon sheets where rods might rub the posts, etc. could sort the problem.

Hmmm! Strangely I could hear it on the recording too!
Anyway, I phoned the tech, and he advised me to tighten the screw in the post sticking up from the top of the f# cup. This holds the G# cup closed. Anyway, it worked! No more buzzing!!

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
