:crying:

I've bought a YTS-23 :ashamed

Not mint, like the Prof's 62, but also not £850. OK, I will tell this time... £255.

Couldn't resist as I was down to only nine saxes, and the BW tenor will be on its way soon to a member here.

Always wanted to try one since Steve Howard loved his for so long. However, Steve does like his on the bright side even if the 23 is described as fairly neutral. We'll see. Should be good to do a comparison with my Grassi 2000 Pro and Carmichael tenors in a few weeks time.

Couple of minor dinks to sort but no big deal.

:optimistic:

Congrats David, I wonder that if you reallty like it , you`ll admit it here  , I can`t think what you didn`t like about the BW, OK it`s not a YTS-62 by any stretch but should have been a good match for an 80s student job like the 23.

It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that head to head I preferred my similarly priced and almost identical Carmichael tenor. So did my pro tutor in a blind test: http://cafesaxophone.com/showthread.php?10948-Pro-Test-BW-Tenor-vs-Carmichael-Tenor

A close run thing!

I've tried Yam altos, 275 and 62 and they didn't stir me but I've not tried a Yam tenor so thought I ought to try out this well regarded model. I'll take it to the tech first so it has the full benefit of a check-up before I try to make any decisions, plus it's the same era as my Grassi tenor so should be an interesting comparison.

Funny isn`t it . I didn`t take to the 275 tenor but really liked the 62 - I`m well pleased with the 62 MkIII Alto. I`ve not tried a Carmichael in any form, they could be made in the same factory as BW, G4M or Jericho (hence the decent performance), the BW I have sounds better at the low end than I expected, it`s no Mk7 though nor did I expect it to be - my only issue with the BW is that I`m finding the left hand ergonomics are cramped, the "Pinkie table" especially, I miss the damn thing entirely on occasion .

Old Buffet the Yahama slayer has a Buffet which I have never tried but am sure I will get around to at some stage but I think he is always honest with his and his tutor's findings. Are there other forum members who have tried the Buffet horns and can compare against Yams?

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
