I am selling my well sought after Buffet Crampon Super Dynaction tenor saxophone built in 1963. Serial number: 7621.
It had a thorough maintenance done and most of the pads and corks changed prior to sale from Quest Musique in Canada in April 2013. Also my repairman added a second hook and palm key risers which helps with ergonomics for me.
It is shipped from Calgary, Canada.
I love the sound and I hear a lot complements from professional players who have seen the saxophone. In fact I haven't heard any warm and rich yet well defined core sound like this in any sax (including my instructor's 130xxx Selmer Mark VI) but unfortunately due to development of arthritis in my fingers, I need to find one with a super light key action and a bit more Selmer Mark VI like ergonomics.
As you may know, SDA saxophones have one of the highest values for the money in the market.
SDA saxes are built with bigger bore compared to Selmer Mark VI so although it has the famous French core sound but it is slightly broader and definitely fatter sounding than Mark VI. It is more free blowing. It offers a great breath control and nicer sound in lowest part of the saxophone. It is built with a dense and I believe thicker french bell brass so it creates nice resonation and lots of partials while having a fat sound.
Based on my instructor's feedback who is a senior sax repairman (probably the best sax repairman in Calgary) the maintenance job was very good so the sax is in great shape.

There is no evident dent or ding on the body of the saxophone that I saw. No sign of soldering either. The lacquer has the usual vintage brownish tan look probably around 50 to 60 percent.
It comes with a hard case that is not original but fits the sax well.
Priced for $1900 USD.
The price includes shipping and insurance.
5% of sale proceeds will be paid to Cafe Saxophone.
