Buffet 400 Alto Strap Hook Placement

Hi Guys
Some time back I bought a new Buffet Alto sax. When the strap is attached and I'm playing it my right hand seems to have to strain to ensure that the sax stays straight. Can anyone tell me how I can check that the strap hook is in the right position. Unfortunately I cannot compare with another sax or take it to a tech as there isnt any in my location.

Many thanks

Regards

Depends what you mean by "straight". Hang the sax round your neck and just push it out a bit with your right thumb. Twizzle the neck around so that it points at your mouth. Don't worry about which way the bell's pointing.

Let the saxophone hang on the strap. Adjust the strap, the neck and the mouthpiece so you can play a C# no hands, head up. If you take weight on your right hand it can cause problems down the road. Also your fingers can't dance across the keys if you're gripping and holding your instrument in an uncomfortable position.
