I have a CD of Branford playing Romances For Saxophone - not my usual listening but fabulous! I also love the YouTube vid of him on An Englishman in New York.

This video should help dispel the myth that Cannonball saxes are unsuitable for classical playing. Here also is an exquisite recording of John Williams Escapades done by Branford with the North Carolina Symphony playing a Cannonball Raven alto at the time. Both of the Marsalis brothers are among the handful of players who are equally at home in both the jazz and classical idioms on their respective instruments.

Nice find. If you subscribe to the Cannonball website or Facebook page, you get some superb video footage of all sorts of genres with just one thing in common - yep, CB instruments. Fair play to the company for their unflagging enthusiasm in promoting their wares, and they are doing a great job of convincing discerning musicians of their quality and versatility - I just wish they would make them a bit easier to actually buy!

I thought Branford usually played a Yamaha alto. He has a customised mk6 Selmer soprano and a yamaha soprano,

imho he's never sounded better that on his Selmer SBA Tenor he used recording "Royal Garden Blues" and " Renaissance" , but gigs with a mk6 tenor , i think ,these days. Corrections welcome ;-)
