this month's tune is 'deep in a dream' which will be new to many folks. I became aware of this tune from Charlie Mariano's great alto version.(I think it's on spotify?)

Here's the track and lead sheets. I choose Eb concert to give better keys for alto and tenor.

hopefully most folks will enjoys this tune, and should be ok for those who play by ear - just watch out for the middle section which is down a major 3rd.

If it's any help the archive manager in Ubuntu opens it. I'd have thought Winzip would.

Another new one to me though I appear to have a recording of it by Ol' Blue Eyes.

I'm having the same problem opening the file. Can it be uploaded to Box perhaps? This version by Eddie Harris on tenor is elegantly understated and the most beautiful tenor sound I have ever heard.

Beautiful version, i know of a member or two on here who could do version as good as this, i hope they do a version 🙂

Here is my version on alto. I took the key down to C major which felt better on alto for this piece. If anyone would like I can share the backing track. I didn't write out a lead sheet. I just transposed the one provided.

@Nick Wyver Nice rendition. I especially liked the ending. @Chris Your playing gets better all the time. The improv had a lot of choice notes that were nice to listen to and your playing "in time" has come a long way. The one minor suggestion I would make is to try using more "du" tonguing on a ballad instead of "tah" or "tuh". It just seems to fit the style so much better.

I did have a play with this tune a few weeks ago when Rob suggested it along with 3 or 4 more ballads that might be worth having a look at. This version is in a different key though🙂 Thanks for the comments and the tip🙂
