For the first time in about 25 years I went to see a sax quartet last night. In the same school hall where I once trod the boards in school productions of Gilbert and Sullivan fifty odd years ago.

And very good they were too. I can thoroughly recommend going to see them if you get the chance. 'Twas a nicely varied programme of old (Bach, Dubois, Bernstein) and new (Will Gregory, David Maslanka, Zack Browning el al) all played very expertly.

It made me want to get back into quartet playing - something else I haven't done for decades.
