Hi,
I've been offered a Boosey and Hawkes Predominant tenor sax, price witheld ;), with a serial number 359xx.
It's in mint condition in silver and was a Royal Marines Band instrument from the 1950's.
I know there's been discussions before on these but I can't find any definitive info on these saxes anywhere.
I keep going around in circles trying to find even the basic info.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

This from the B&H Yearbook, 1941. Appears to be a cheaper alternative to the high end XXC model (surprisingly still being advertised, considering both the 32 and New Century models had been produced in the meantime).
I have a later Predominant alto, marked as sold by B&H, which I'd put a fair amount of money on being made by Pierret.
Given that your prospective one is military, it's more likely B&H-made.

Thank you, this is the most I've seen about them :)

From what I have seen the saxophone might have been made by:
B&H - probably good
Pierret - very good
Amati - not so good
A.N.Other - who knows?
If it's an Amati it should be recognisable by the bell key guards.
