Been listening to Sidney Bechet for longer than I care to remember, but only just found this one, after playing it at band practice tonight. Just stunning!

Yeah, follow that! Even top trumpeters like Sidney deParis, Jonah Jones and Max Kaminsky have to fight against Bechet's soaring ensemble work and solos. Among those Blue Note records my favourite Bechet moments are on Up In Sidney's Flat and Jackass Blues. But for me the greatest Bechet tracks are the Big Four ones with Muggsy Spanier. Most Bechet solos still make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Good post. I have this in one of my very early on starters books of about 100 blues numbers. Good to hear what its supposed to sound like. Thanks
