Yes I saw your post on Facebook about your lesson with him. Do you manage a face to face or online?

It's him who's tasked me with Autumn Leaves, I feel I need to nail down these scales, arpeggios and my timing, which should help overall not just with my improvising.

Online, so for worked fine. Vast majority really has been talking!

Time is super important. You can't play the right notes if you can't play them in time. Some good exercises to try are to put a backing on with just one chord, and then you are only allowed to play one note. But can be as rhythmic as you like. Just focus on getting really locked into the groove

I love playing the changes of this song. I've been at it for forty odd years and still find new pathways.
Then take it very literally and let those leaves flutter and swirl and settle.
Trying to play russet rustling sounds, is challenging. Getting the chlorophyll out of your sound is key.
Add in a little Halloween and bobbing for apples and you're there.🥺
