As New Bauhaus Walstein Bronze Improved Action Alto Saxophone with Yam 4C mouthpiece

Hi
In order to finance a new Tenor Saxophone I am selling this immaculate Bronze BW Improved Action (AS-PD) Alto Saxophone complete with a Yamaha 4C Mouthpiece, Rovner Dark Ligature and 9 Vandoren Java (2) Reeds.

This saxophone is as new, I cannot find a mark on it. They are currently selling at sax.co.uk for £680 with the standard BW mouthpiece (which is rubbish) but I am including a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece as well as the standard mouthpiece. Also included is the standard sling that it is supplied with and the BW case.
Would like a quick sale so offering this sax at a bargain price of £450 plus shipping (or collection from GL55 6QG - 20 mins from Stratford upon Avon / Evesham)
5% donation to charity if sale is made through the forum 🙂
Please PM me if you are interested.
Thanks for looking
Jo

I'm amazed that this alto hasn't been snapped up, it has hardly been played, it really is a bargain for someone! 🙂

Funnily enough I noticed a BW Tenor on ebay yesterday which was sold for £399 with a shipping cost of £55!? I wrote to said person about the high cost of shipping and he explained that it was the going rate with the Royal Mail. I explained that other services could do the same for approximately £10 (looking briefly on Parcel2Go) and collect it from your home, and he decided to look into it. Not surprised that there was only one bid.

I am more than happy to post this sax using any method that the buyer chooses as long as they are happy to pay the postage. Can't believe it hasn't been snapped up to be honest, I have my Selmer Alto and my Yamaha Tenor (along with a straight and curvy sopranos) so this one just isn't getting used and it is such a shame. It is as new but at 2/3rds of the price of a new one!
Don't really want to go down the Fleabay route to be honest.

a shipping cost of £55!?

Some email sellers regard the shipping cost as an extra guaranteed margin. I once bought my wife a watch on ebay, from someone nearby and when I suggested I could collect and he would be saved the hassle of postage, and I, the cost, he got quite shirty, and made it impossible to make a practical arrangement for collection .....

Re: As New Bauhaus Walstein Bronze Improved Action Alto Saxophone with Yam 4C mouthpi

That was my assumption at first, but he did seem a lot more genuine than that. I still am left slightly suspicious, though, like a person who was charging £15 to post a mouthpiece!

Anyway, awesome sax still available at awesome price - c'mon, you know you want to!

If you start marking them down for this, they have to stop - cos it shows up on their ratings, and ebay start leaning on them. Even giving 3 stars....

Not really sure what this has all got to do with my sale
I didn't give a postage price because I am happy to discuss postage methods and prices with any potential buyers :thumb:

If my trumpet sells this week might be interested, have a jupiter 500 on loan from a friend, who would yours compare with the jupiter?

Hi
I have never played a Jupiter instrument so cannot compare but here is some more info on the Bauhaus:

The model number is AS-PD which is the Phospher Bronze Actoin Improved model.
If you need any more info please just ask 🙂
Thanks Jo

Quote from Pete Thomas in his Taming the Saxophone website:

"What is a good saxophone for a beginner?

Until recently I usually advised beginners to get either a Yamaha or Jupiter student model as the build quality, intonation and tone of these instruments is very good. However, there have recently been a lot of very inexpensive Chinese made saxophones available, especially on Ebay and internet stores. Some of these instruments are astonishingly good for the price, but some are total rubbish, so beware. It is best to avoid buying one unless it is from a reputable dealer with a no quibble money back guarantee, e.g. the stores mentioned above. One of the very best makes available in the UK or for export is the Bauhaus Walstein. More information on the saxophone buying guide."

Found here:http://tamingthesaxophone.com/saxophone-recommendations.html

The Jupiters are pretty good; the Bauhaus Walsteins are better.

I have now sold the saxophone for £450 including shipping (less reeds!), just went on Parcel2Go to get a quote and you are quite right Tom you can get shipping for around £10 but that only gives £50 insurance!!! To insure for up to £500 is an extra £20 plus VAT 🙁

Well done on selling your sax! Shipping in UK seems so good these days and tracking so clear that I have not personally gone with the insutrance. I take advice on packing etc, and have a supply of bubble wrap, but can't imagine that a well packed sax in a very well protected case, marked "Fragile" is going to have much problem travelling 300 miles or so. Or maybe I've just been lucky over the years.

Kind regards
Tom

Thanks for the reply Tom, I'm not one to take risks lol
Have gone for Parcelforce 48 with extra insurance - works out at £27 - gulp!
Going to make donation to Pete's charity now 🙂

Just made the £22.50 donation but forgot to add a note saying what it was for - hopefully that will be ok?
