If I had a Bari I'd want to play that just like that. Sonny Stitt is on my ever growing list of 'must listen more '

Don't forget to put the great Serge Chaloff on that list too, if he wasn't already on :).

Serge is definitely on that list along with Pepper Adams, Nick Brignola, Ronnie Cuber, Cecil Payne, Lars Gullin as well as some more contemporary players like Celine Bonacina.
My list gets bigger all the time.

Just had a quick listen to Sahib Shihab - Please Don't Leave Me and I like very much, thank you. I'll put these others on the list - it's time I need now lol.

Nick, in Holland we have some good young bari players too. Check Rik van den Bergh (a Pepper Adams adapt) and Jan Menu (a Mulligan adapt).

You have to come in November to Amsterdam, because both of them will perform in the Bimhuis together with Ronnie Cuber on November 7, 2013: :)

Thanks for that info Peter.
I was aware of Rik van den Bergh but not Jan Menu.
I'd love to come to Amsterdam and will at some point as my girlfriends family is all from the Netherlands.
But it is unlikely to be in November I am afraid.
A real shame as I am sure this would be great to see.

I just ordered my tickets, sitting in the front row (on 1 meter from the horns) with my girlfriend :).

Let me know if you come over Nick, would be great to meet.

You guys talk as if Amsterdam and Australia are in the same neighbourhood !!
Might as well stop by Vancouver on your way ... :)

Nick - what are some albums that Sonny Stitt play the bari on ? All I have is alto and tenor tunes.
