Saxophones Another unusual brand... Akustik

It's a fore-runner of the Weltklangs. The early Weltklangs are identical except for the engraving. So east German, post WWII, late 40s/early 50s. I've got a scruffy one waiting for a rebuild.

The touchpieces are some kind of plastic, probably a milk/casein based one. They can also be found in blue and possibly other colours.

Are they any good?

I`ve got an Akustik guitar - got an Elektrik one too  ..

the name mis-spelling seems more American (they love cheesy stuff like that) - maybe it was aimed at that market

yeah, deliberately adopting a german spelling, post WWII, would really help exports to the allied countries

So for 295Euros I would have thought it would be more expensive if they are that rare?
not very many people are interested in them, and the collectors who are interested probably already have one. Plus it's not been played for about 30 years, so will probably need a full overhaul.
You could get a Grassi Jade Rollers for similar money, or for a bit more find an old Keilwerth on ebay.de, but the extra cost of an overhaul or repad makes it less economically desirable.. there are a few dealers in europe who sell overhauled obscure saxes like this for around 700 Euros + depending on condition or rarity
It all depends on how much you love odd and interesting curios vs a secondhand modern taiwanese sax...
I tend towards the former, but unless I suddenly find that I've got lots of cash to spend, I'll stick with my Martin
