Another request for help

Yeah I know - I say yes to stuff first and think about how to do it after 🙂
I would really appreciate your input on 2 songs. A good friend of mine is singing a couple of tracks for her debut gig at a club in Oxford tonight and has asked me to accompany her on stage rather than just be in the audience (which was my idea of supporting her). This is all very last minute (I'd like to have actually practised with her first!) but...well..you know.
Anyway the songs are "I'm no good" - Amy Winehouse and "Nothing sweet about me"- Gabriella Cilmi.
I think the Amy Winehouse is originally in D minor which would leave me running riffs around say a Pentatonic Em on Tenor?
Not sure about key for the Sweet about me track - possibly C?
My friend is far more likely to take things down a key than up a key.
My aim is to provide backing to help/emphasise the singer rather than do anything to distract.
Any advice? I'm going to see if I can get the afternoon off and get some youtubing in this afternoon but I'd like a plan of attack that doesn't see me just wallowing in a 2 note beat counter 😉

Had a great night - even though i completely missed the 8 bar Solo in the Amy Winehouse song, never mind, it's a keeper as my mate sang it really well so I'll practise for next time! Evening, as seems to be the norm on these nights, decended into some slow and not so slow blues and at 1.15am, i persuaded my mate to leave and we left the guitars to it!
So that's a regular Wednesday night out for me now too 😀

Thanks for all your help - particularly G9off

Well done !

We have just started doing the Amy Winehouse song (You Know I'm no Good) in our band. I have transcribed the horn lines for me (tenor sax) and the rest of the brass (on keyboards). It would work OK with just the tenor line.

If you would like me to email it to you, just say the word.

Best regards

Rhys

PS Apparently the song is rude, but luckily I don't understand it.
