Eddie Harris is not someone I have ever followed, although I know he was something of an instrumental innovator. As it happens there was a track of his from 1970 called Renovated Rhythm played on BBC radio3 Jazz Record Requests on Saturday (It's on i-player all week but not sure it if it's accessible outide UK). He plays what is listed as "electric saxophone". There are no other details of it. To me it has a very undefined tone, with no real attack. I wonder how it was played? Presumably not like the modern EWI. Not that this is to take anything away from Harris technically as a player.
