Bravo! It doesn't sound like it's in an odd time signature with the flowing lines you play, which I think is the sign of odd time really working well!
I’m also very impressed, I’m useless at playing in odd time signatures. I always end up playing in 4/4 then somehow having to recalibrate at some point when I realise I’m a bit out.

I feel your pain Pete🤣 I remember touring with Michael Ball back in the day and asking the keyboard player how he dealt with 7/4 and he replied you have to ‘feel’ it in both reading and improv and the more you do the easier it becomes. He was right. I spent a lot of time working through this and others like 11/8 13/8 etc there is one really neat drum app with samples of top players worldwide playing in odd times and it’s surprising how after an hour or so of something out there on a 2 bar loop how familiar it starts to feel. Especially if you can introduce a clave to it. Centers everything. Thank you for listening and your kind comments.

That’s the app called Drum Genius. It does require payment for the loops but it is well worth it imho.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
