A sad loss.

Very special musician as the first post Segovia guitarist who took up the position of championing Classical Guitar music. I was especially taken with his recording of The Malcolm Arnold Guitar concerto, which he commissioned. It's the first (that I'm aware of) really modern Classical Guitar work. Lots of other 20th Century great guitar works, but most are Neo-Romantic. A wonderful man and great musician with a huge legacy.

The best story I heard was from him, he was playing a piece in a concert that he’d played a million times before and he drifted off and was woken by the applause.
