Good version of a nice song.

Sonny Rollins plays it on his live album "Cutting Edge" which is from very much the same time as that film from Ronnie Scott's. He sticks close to the melody but plays with loads of emotion. I've got a transcription of him playing that tune somewhere.

Keep the recordings coming.

Man this song takes me back. I must have been about 13ish and in Woolworths and not much cash and there was a double album by some black american woman that looked the business for a penny less than I had. I think it was 19s11d, or was it 9s11d. Turns out it was Dionne Warwick's greatest hits. I'd never heard of her and I've never bought anything else of hers but I wore that album out. It's a lovely lyric. I had a look on the tube for Dionne's version and was surprised how fast it seemed after listening to your version

You catch a real mood with this one Chris. You're developing quite a style with the slow romantic playing. Nice tone intonation and playing. I got a little distracted by the phrasing. I feel if you're playing a song you should give a strong nod to the lyric or stay well away from it, but that's just me. I enjoyed it very much.

@rhysonsax and @Colin the Bear , I only had an hour or so to do the backing and do the recording. My sheet came from the 'Wiki' file I have, it didn't feel right when I played through it as written, that's why I decided to just try and take a few liberties and try and make something work. Colin glad you enjoyed it though. Thanks for the comments..

Chris..

Can't argue with that, as soon as I opened soundcloud it made me smile (the pic). Very tenderly played 🙂

Dionne and Brook Benton had simultaneous releases 1964. It's from a film, the title of which eludes me at the moment. Hal David, Burt Bacharach collaboration.

Can't remember the film at all. Shelley winters and Richard Todd sounds an odd romantic lead casting. I'll watch out for it doing the rounds on afternoon tv
