Mouthpieces 4C or 6C on a Tenor for a beginner?

Hi All,

The eagle eyed may have noticed I've bought a double Sax stand...

3 guesses what I've done 😛.

Turns out vodka fueled me enjoys putting bids on things when the sober me isn't paying attention... Queue ebay emailing me telling me I've won an auction.

There's a Jupiter 789-787 Tenor on it's way to me now hopefully reaching my office just before Christmas.

Of course for hygiene reasons I'd like to pick up a new mouthpiece, so the question is for a beginner am I better off with a 4C or 6C?

They're the only 2 that appear to be readily available to buy easily and I've got the thing so I might as well learn it too. The mouth thing is different so I'll probably leave it in it's case for a couple weeks until I get the basics down though.

Now you need a sop.........
and a baritone . . . come to think of it flutes are nice and shiny . . .

6c for tenor - with a Nr. 2 reed for starters. Looks like you're hooked Saahil - but don't say we didn't warn you young lad, at your age you really should be spending your time doing something more sensible with your life.

Haha spike, if it were not for pursuing interests such as music, I'd just spend my time playing computer games 😛

Oh, Thank goodness. What a relief. Your soul has indeed been saved.
As indicated above and incedently it is by no means frowned upon to discuss flutes on this forum and they are often made from solid silver, gold and even platinum. I've often noticed over the years that a romantic little flutter on the flute does go down well with the girls. So once you've got your soprano and bari you may well want to keep it in mind. D.H. Lawrence wrote a book which springs to mind - "Aaron's Rod" methinks it was entitled.

Not at all @trimmy we need a voice of reason here, poor lad if he buys everything now he won't have anything to look forward to in the new year 😉

Stop encouraging him 🙂

Jx
You always pick on me! It was Spike and Trimmy.....tell them .........
