BOTM 2014/03 - Angel Eyes

This months looks like it's going to be bumper month with this tune. In that famous Scottish Restaurant , at the mo, a bit noisy with screaming kids. Look forward to hearing the new adds when I get back🙂

@ Chris . Listening to your 2nd Take again. Like the way you are using more of the range . This can only improve things I think tonally giving you a greater palette. Also this more upbeat tempo is giving your vocab a work out. good stuff.
@ YCCMA LOL.
I thought the BT was a corker . . The Harp was a bit off putting to me so I hope you repost another take soon just so we get more of you. Nice stuff coming from you and your Old Girl all the same. have you had her long? Mine is 1935 and still going strong after 30 years in my possession.

and not one trip to the doc in all that time. just continuous 1st Aid.

@CTB

I loved the 2nd vid of the song in it`s original format. very revealing and a lesson to be learnt re interpretation.

Have had naked lady for about 6 years, seller wants it back but it's not going to happen,was one of the last RTH silver plated gold washed bell (1946). She's a little picky about MP's using 'new' Vintage Supertone Otto Link 6*, large chambered piece. Still has a few original pads!

Jeanette. I thought you were referring to my Fishy Lig again😉 You'll be sorry when I take it up with dragons den. 😉 And become a millionaire :rofl:
The drummer bit , was a joke Clivey would get. He didn't like my last post because of the drummer. The drummer from the IREAL app. But he's very cheap. The drummer I mean🙂

@ Jim .Doing the old write as I listen thing on a beat up laptop. nice intro and BT .
Sax comes nice & clean Bluesy feel and gentle improv touches throughout I think it`s a great 1st off, I`d like more lower Octave Stuff Jim but if you know from my playing I`m baised towards the low end especially on old Conns. LOL Outro very nice indeedy ,

I watched a bit of the Blues history programs on BBC4 and was interested to hear a few of the old blues artists considered the Blues to be a happy music. Which makes sense if you think about it. But some of the old leadbelly rec can sound a bit depressing and remind us of a rural and poor environment. Getting back to Angel Eyes. I suppose that's why I prefer the top octave for this tune, I can push it more without sounding forced and it sort of takes the introverted bluesy element out of the darker lower register, and makes it more positive sounding. I would play a tune like Misty in the lower octave tho. I think that's the beauty of the Tenor over the Alto. Having that flexablity. Which I think the Sop has also. 🙂
