2013/09 - Stardust

Yep.
I was sitting there too.
Really enjoyed your take Davey.
And loved Jamesmac's clarinet version also.

Looks like theres going to be a lot of great versions of this wonderful tune.
I can't guarantee that this will be one of them but heres my take of Lester youngs version.
First one is the newer one on Bari and the second is from January this year I think? on Tenor.

Liked the tenor version on the very first seconds.... :D
Well done..!

I recorded a few takes of this beautiful tune last year May for the 'other' forum :).

Here is a slow ballad version with a beautiful piano backing on a metal 70's Otto Link Early Babbit tip 12:
- Stardust (Early Babbitt 12 - Plasticover 2 reed):

And here a medium swing version on a metal 50's Otto Link Florida no USA tip 10*:
- Stardust (Florida no USA 10* - Plascticover 2 reed):

Both backings came from Chris :). Hope to work on a new version this month, if time permits.

Very well done... I like you tone a lot....
Cheers,

Heres my effort for this month. I`ve struggled with this on all counts Impro, Feel, Tuning, Recording etc. I think it`s a result of all the others being so F-ing good. But I`m posting the 1st one I can kind of live with although I may have another bash or Mix I don`t know.https://soundcloud.com/cliveyx

Sweet and warm...
liked it a lot..!

Hi All :
Here is my version of the Ballad of the month :

I appreciate your comments. ( Sorry, I did not play the improvisation part...I am studying how to do it...when I feel more confident I will start to record that part of the songs...)

Best Wishes

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread so far ( still 2 days left). I had hoped to produce a stunning rendition on the Fortissimo Sop recently rescued from ProfJames but fortunately for you all I have been inveigled into doing some decorating by my lovely wife which has kept me away from all instruments for the last week or so.

I am now though back to my normal idle self and ready to get back to the serious business of sax practice. Probably too late to produce and post another version this month but who knows...

Anyway, looking forward to next months challenge lets hope that it is an easy one :) or at the very least something I have heard of...
