Hello,

for sale in the UK (Epsom, Surrey):
1) Sakkusu Alto (by sax.co.uk): clear lacquer, older model with black pearls, hardly used (it is actually as new!), includes Yamaha mouthpiece, sling, a couple of new reeds and case (this also nearly new). So a complete package for a starter, needs absolutely no work.
Personal view: I was amazed at the quality of this horn, really well put together, headless point screws, perfect lacquer, but what really staggered me was the sound, nice and round as I like an alto and the top end much easier (and not as thin) than the equivalent TJ model (Classic), to me it sounds better than the YAS275.
£190 SOLD

2) Windcraft Alto WAS100 (by Dawkes): as the Sakkusu above, this too has been hardly played! Clear lacquer, complete of case, sling, WIndcraft mouthpiece and new reeds. Needs absolutely no work.
Personal view: another really good alto, I was extremely skeptical, but as the alto above, this sounds great (I'd love to try the equivalent tenor!) and and has some nice little details (like the little ring above the neck tenon, a la Selmer Reference). Great build quality too, I've been playing this quite a bit! Both these altos are tremendous value!
£190

3) Hohner President Tenor: a great tenor from the 50s (at least by the info I could find on the web), clear lacquer is probably at (conservatively) 90%, cannot find a dent or a repair anywhere. Pads are old but still closing well, rolled tone holes, original metal neck plug, what looks like the original mouthpiece and ligature, original box case has most of the covering removed, so really, good for shipping (although heavy).
Personal opinion: nice beefy tenor sound, keywork is just right, not too light or heavy, plays well as is, but if you're thinking of touring with it, it may require new pads, this is reflected in the price. £380 SOLD

Cafe donation of 5% for each sax sold on the forum.
Sorry, not interested in trades.
Photos to follow, but please bear with me, this week I will be on the road a lot and with little time to reply.
I would rather not post the above as I have very little time on my hands and I'd rather the buyer saw/tried what he/she is about to buy, but could courier for £20 in mainland UK.
Any questions please PM me!

BTW.: my Vito tenor is still available!
Cheers,
M.

I'm not clever enough to find it again, but wasn't there a thread hereabouts where someone from sax.co.uk confirmed that these were made in Elkhart's factory in Taiwan?

Thank you all for the enquiries:
Jasper: the Sakkusu is on hold for you, and yes the makers confirmed these were made at the Elkhart factory.
Di in France: I will get you and Jasper pics as soon as I'm back home (Thursday night).
Thank you for your patience!

I must clarify: when I said I played the Windcraft "a lot", this has been in the last 3 weeks (so probably 5 hours in total! That's a lot for my standards!) I've had this sax, it really is in pristine condition!

hi mmm, jasper here thanks for the reply re sakkusu, looking forward to meeting you at your convenience and seeing the pics

It was when I was asking about the Sopranino I thought they said they were chinese . Elkhart do have a chinese range too - the 100 series - only the Series-II, Deluxe and 300 series are Taiwanese . if the Sakk`s are Taiwan also and up to at least Elky Series (II) then they`ll be superb value . they do a C-Melody too

Jonf's alto still had its "Made in Taiwan" sticker on when he sold it: http://cafesaxophone.com/community/threads/new-sakkusu-alto-sax.7064/#post-80360

Sorry pressed send too quickly...
Just wanted to add the following: on the Hohner President I actually managed to find one shallow small dent near the bell bow, the sparkled pitting in the photos has been highlighted by the flash (bad photographer!), it is not as noticeable in person!
Please let me know if you would like more photos!

Sakkusu Alto now sold: thank you Jasper! Donation made.

The Windcraft Alto and Hohner President are still available: make me a sensible offer or off to eBay they go!

Cheers,
M.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
