1941 Conn 6M Neck Receiver Measurement Required Please

Hi Guys,

I have another project on the go! Is anybody able put their hands on one of the above and take some accurate measurements for me please? I need the outside diameter of the neck receiver this, being a double socket horn. I usually take measurements in a few different places around the receiver to work out a mean average!

I also require the overall length of the the neck receiver?

Any help, as always, greatly appreciated?

Thanks, Mike

I've got a 1936 Conn 6M - 25.8mm or 1.23 inches oustside diameter of the neck receiver on the body using my vernier calipers, overall length about 21.5mm 0.77 inches - I'll dig out the micrometer this weekend and take some more accurate measurements - this time of night isn't conducive to fine work..

In the daytime you need to look again at your conversions between mm and inches. These figures aren't consistent (1 inch = 25.4 mm).

Did the 6M originally come with an end plug for the neck receiver? I have seen some with a tube/sleeve which fits into the neck itself but never seen an end plug as such?

I've not got an end plug for mine, but I've seen them on older Conn's, a metal tube type end plug, similar to the one's you get on Martins, but nicer - there's one on my C Melody ..... apologies if the inch sizes weren't correct, I was reading them off the vernier scale on my calipers at midnight and not doing mathematical conversions .. I'll get a more accurate reading from Moore and Wright's finest when I get back from fixing a laptop. I'll also have to make allowances for the wear on the nickel plating on the neck receiver on mine. I'll try to do some photos...

Conn C Melody end plug - length 31mm, max diameter 26.4mm, min diameter 24.6mm - tube thickness max 2mm, min 1.2mm

if you're planning on making a neck plug for a 6M, the internal diameter of mine is - 22.5mm, outside diameter is 25.8 - 25.81mm, but mine's got a bit of plating wear on the neck receiver.

That measurement seems fairly consistent across all directions, at least within the accuracy of my vernier calipers. The inch micrometer is buried under the stack of boxes I've still not unpacked since moving house
