I suspect he's had a few mates bid it up so as to look like it IS a valuable sax.

If you click on the bid count, it lists all the bids. No names, but you can see from their ratings how many ebay deals they've done. Someone's going to be horribly disappointed when they find out the new price and true value. As with any auction, don't bid unles you know what you're doing.

Checked the 'automatic' bids. There are none.
First bidder must have bid 449 or something else close to 450. This shows as 20 on ebay, which I assume is the minimum opening bid. Second bidder comes in with 459 or similar and this gives the 450 bid as the lowest that's higher than the opening bid. Third guy comes in and again ebay only shows 460 as it's the minimum higher than previous bidder.

Does sound really fishy to me. Not many guys will pay that much for a second hand alto without knowing what they were buying - and to find 2 in an apparant bidding war both bidding far too high and no intermediate bids is really odd. Hopefully ebay pick up on it this time. Does look as if there's at least one underbidder in there trying to push it up. How would bidder 2 just happen to bid slightly more than bidder 1, when ebay would be showing 20?
